How often should commercial floors be stripped and waxed?
Full strip and wax is typically needed every 6 to 12 months, but traffic is what really decides it. A busy retail entrance or a school corridor may need it twice a year; a low-traffic private office can run well beyond twelve months.
Between full strips, a scrub and recoat — removing the top layers rather than everything — extends the life of the finish considerably and costs less. Part of our assessment is telling you honestly which of the two your floor needs, including when the answer is 'not yet'.

How often should floors be stripped and waxed?
Typically every 6 to 12 months, though traffic matters far more than the calendar. High-traffic entrances, corridors and retail floors often need it twice a year; low-traffic private offices can go well beyond a year. Between full strips, a scrub and recoat extends the finish at lower cost — we'll tell you which one your floor actually needs.
How long does it take for floors to dry after waxing?
Each coat needs roughly 30 to 60 minutes before the next goes down, and the completed finish needs several hours before light foot traffic. We recommend leaving it overnight before normal use, and 24 to 48 hours before heavy equipment, rolling loads or furniture goes back. That's exactly why we schedule this work for evenings and weekends.
Is professional strip and wax better than doing it in-house?
For anything beyond a very small area, yes — and usually by a wide margin. The difficulty isn't the buffing, it's the stripping: incomplete removal means the new finish won't bond and will fail within months, and stripper left on the substrate can damage the floor permanently. Commercial-grade finish, machinery and correct neutralising aren't practical to replicate in-house for an occasional job.
Which floor types can you strip and wax?
VCT, vinyl and linoleum, sealed concrete, and most commercial tile systems. Some surfaces should never be waxed — unsealed natural stone, certain engineered timber and some LVT products among them — and we'll tell you at the assessment if yours is one of them rather than coating something that shouldn't be coated.
Are your floor care products safe for staff and occupants?
Yes. We use commercial products selected for low odour and low residue, and because this work happens out of hours the space is ventilated and fully cured before anyone returns. For sensitive environments such as medical or educational settings, tell us and we'll match the product specification to your requirements.
Do you move furniture as part of the job?
Yes. Moving and replacing furniture is included in the scope, and we protect baseboards, fixtures and adjacent surfaces before any solution goes down. Very heavy or fragile items — server racks, medical equipment, display fixtures — are flagged at the assessment so we can plan them properly rather than improvising on the night.
